Biography
Born in Birmingham 1974, Lucy Woollett aka Lady Lucy lives and works in London. Her innovative projects, which are often collaborations are characterised by a Do It Your self accessibility. Lady LucyÕs inspirations, tools and materials include: Feminism, pop music, internet, radio, fanzines, film culture, characters, performance and interviewing. The artist is constantly in the process of producing an extraordinary range of drawn artworks taken from real life and from the drawn page. She always has her sketchbook and drawing materials with her, endlessly creating her portrait series, Being Lady Lucy . She was for a time involved in the running and programming of Cube Cinema, alternative and imaginative artists run cinema in Bristol. Her most recent projects include a film documenting female D.JÕs and McÕs with the same moniker as the artist supported by Picture This Moving Image and Drawing Exchange a social drawing event , a collaboration with Kayle Brandon. In 2004 she was commissioned by Media Art Bath to produce a book, Movie Memories which was constructed around interviews with individuals at Age Concern North East Somerset. It has been described as Ôa heart warming and delicious little bookÕ. She was nominated and included in Drawing Links at The Drawing Room, London, also touring to International 3, Manchester and Outpost Gallery, Norwich. In early 2007 a large collection of the artists drawing work was show in her first major solo show Unit 2 Gallery, London Metropolitan University. Lady Lucy is currently studying for MAFA at Chelsea College of Art and Design.
